World of Tanks Updated Reviews (2022)
World of Tanks 15v15 matches are usually epic, but short and explosive when the ammunition starts to fly. It doesn't take long for the collision to start at the main choke points of each map, because the front lines get involved in the collision and the artillery dual and heavy armored push is not too far away. The explosion puts you off as a spectator to watch the battle unfold, although you can skip the match and make a fresh start with a different tank. This tiered approach to the match keeps you close to the action and is as exciting as the end of each match.
Players interested in the depth of ammunition types, armor possibilities, and crew members' in-depth training will find that these systems add interesting depth to combat. But if your focus is on action and flying tactics, they are easy to let go. With an emphasis on victory through killing or capture, battles rarely last within 15 minutes. However, the obvious victories are as simple as close ones, thanks to good matchmaking that balances the type and level of the tank in each collision. Some of my favorite victories have come down to even the last tank related issues, which is an intense way for your team to win the battle. The damage can also be spectacularly funny, like the priceless moment where I quickly pulled my damaged panzer off a cliff and crashed into an enemy tank below, destroying both of us in the process.
Variety of tanks is one of the biggest attractions here, as gaining experience in each game allows you to gradually upgrade the tanks in your garage to increase their efficiency. The huge tree of unlockable vehicles that you can access is impressive in its width and variety. With 10 levels and hundreds of tanks in seven different countries, there is a ridiculous amount of armor in the parade. Offers a good variety of attack tactics and capabilities to choose from light, medium and heavy tank types, but many artillery units and self-propelled "tank killers" make for a great mix.
You fight on a wide range of equally impressive battlefields, large, innumerable and detailed. The matches unfold across a wide range of scenery, from beautiful fields and hilly terrain to narrow urban industrial settings and windy deserts. The terrain itself plays a huge role in the way you approach each encounter and it is a lot of fun to try different vehicles in different places. The maps are well designed with covers, structures, hills, choke points and many other elements that have a great impact on the flow of the battle and the tactics you have to use.
It's not long before skirmishes erupt at key choke points along each map, as the front lines clash and pave the way for the artillery duels and heavily armored pushes not far behind.
However, gaining access to new tanks and maps is a slow and often complex process. The grind itself is not always a bad thing, as upgrading and unlocking tanks is a significant reward for your efforts on the battlefield. The better you do, the more experience you will have to upgrade the components of a given tank, which in turn gives access to higher level vehicles. When you make progress, it is very satisfying. The problem is, it can be quite time consuming until you know the strengths and weaknesses of certain tanks and how to make the best use of them. You can slow down your upgrade rate quickly to fly long before you deal with losses and score points. Slowness aside, it is an important system that adds impetus to continue playing hundreds of games. I was attracted to routine because it forced me to improve my fighting skills. The matches themselves are fun, but the quest to constantly work towards more powerful and varied tanks is an important element of the ability to lure you into another explosion of the World of Tanks. If you do not rush to the top, the measured progress is much less than a problem.
